Faultline Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Well besides continuing to add new products this site, I think, is ready. I am really open to any suggestions anyone has. The White Rabbit :( Uriah
Chance Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 You should never have a picture of a product that you can't click on and go to that respective product's info page. On the index, the three category product images are not linked to their respective product (or category). I understand that that page is not part of the shop, but the first thing I did was try to browse something you state that you have a specialty with. Gil_e_n Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Does the flash navigation really add anything to your website? Because I browse with adblock on, as always, and it adds really unattractive sidebars to your buttons on your front page. If you increase the text size, your layout gets messy. The header at the top of your front page and the bottom of your catalog looks messy. The black decorative sidebars look to me like someone who was cropping it out of something else was too lazy to remove all the non-black pixels at the edge. It just looks bad to me. New Item's has an unnecessary apostrophe. The default buttons (Add to Cart, Write Reviews, etc) clash with the green. Personally, I'd remove the green bar they're on top of, and recolor the buttons the same green as your website. On the other hand, I like the page background - it suits the theme and isn't bad-looking. And it's not bad - just has a few things that bug me. starpowersports Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Well besides continuing to add new products this site, I think, is ready. I am really open to any suggestions anyone has. The White Rabbit :( Uriah <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is my first ever feedback! Usually I look at the site and move on as I am way to shy to jump in - but - this behavior has to change if I am to continue being hopeful that I will find the help I need to get our store live one day soon! I like your "home" page layout, but expected that the nav bar would remain the same as I clicked through its buttons - but that did not happen so I immediately did a WTF after following the nav's to each of your product pages -- all the while wondering if I was still at the White Rabbit's web site ......... The home page is pleasant enough, but it seems way too busy -- a hodgepodge of sorts --- which is well in line with the flare of a White Rabbit theme, but I'd suggest cleaning it up for the web. Also, I could not find a way back to it [home page] once I tried all of the product links, as well. And a thrid point: I wondered why you would link the FirebrandChess web site to your home page, as no mention is made that the site is a related or sister company ... there is no way to route your traffic back to your site and you are giving away business to them if it is not profit related to your store ... perhaps your home page could make mention why you chose to link them on your home page with a message to click the back button to get back to your store ?? I am very raw at learning how to make the modifications I want for our online store front, but as a consumer, I have decided that having pages headed up as PRODUCTS and as CATEGORIES with the various corresponding items listed below is awkward as well as confusing. I personally prefer these areas not to exist [at all] especially if the image corresponding to whichever product is named in this header area doesn't let me access that particular item [which would make it a quick select to the cart for me]. It just seems way too hokey. I did not like that your product pages were mismatching... By that I mean each page should have the very same appearance consistently and yours do not seem to do it. My monitor only lets me see a smidgeon of your background wallpaper so it was distracting at best and the color scheme within the product pages [while I do have a love of "greens"] was somewhat hard in order to keep my "eye on the ball" as I had to keep taking pause to read the black text lettering - I 'd suggest a soft yellow or creamed yellow for text coloring. Also, the links in your Information section need to be finished! These are very important terms [i.e.] Shipping, Privacy, etc. I hope these points are of some help! Best of Succccccess! Bazkaz Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Biggest thing to bother me was the images you have. The file sizes are huge! I'm on a DSL connection and it took almost 30+ seconds to load some pages. You shouldn't have thumbnails that are over 100k! You shouldn't have thumbnails over 15k as I think, but 146k thumbnail?! If I wasn't reviewing the site I would have left before waiting for it to load... just to slow in my opinion.
Faultline Posted September 7, 2005 Author Posted September 7, 2005 Well, It seems like all the reviews are pointing towards taking down the splash page on the site. Would that be a better presentation of the store? Thanks, Uriah
moonbeam Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 Yes, I agree... get rid of the "splash page". Rethink the color scheme. The yellow on white background for product listing is very tough to read. Sorry, I couldn't stay long. My first impression...The overall color scheme doesn't say come in and buy. Yellow on green makes me want to scream.... Luck to ya! Moon "Woohoo, Just Havin Funnn!"
moonbeam Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 The white text looks much better! Be careful, when I click on a category (such as music boxes) I get a list of your music boxes with images and product titles. Your product titles disappear on the white background! I only see the hover over. I am still not sure of the green on the silver...Not my taste, but I am only one person. If it was me, I would pull the golds and cream tones from the clocks background and ditch the green and silver all together. Moon "Woohoo, Just Havin Funnn!"
dandelion Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 Much better without the splash page! I don't like the green - I recommend white (or in some places lavender) everywhere that is green. You're name is White Rabbit so make it white your products will look better against a white background - Try it I'm sure you'll like it. Remove the () numbers after each category. A contribution I really like is the one that replaces new for this month items with a link to each category - I think it's called "all categories in main page". You can see a live example at My Store You're getting there now! Good luck.
