installing problem... please help

i get this error when trying to install oscommerce via web

 

Access denied for user 'admin'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

 

but i can assure you the password is right. what am i doing wrong here ??? i am going insane

 

i set the permissions to 777 on the config file and created my database with user login and pw.

 

HELP! :'(

Only a couple of options for that I would think.

 

You do in fact have the wrong password/user or you're querying the wrong server.

in the web install... i used localhost for the database server, set the login and pw just as how i enetered it for the database.

 

there has got to be something going on somewhere but i cant point my finger on it!

i havent installed anything yet, thats what i am trying to do

What type of system are you trying to install on, Windows or Linux?

Local: Mac OS X 10.5.8 - Apache 2.2/php 5.3.0/MySQL 5.4.10 • Web Servers: Linux

Tools: BBEdit, Coda, Versions (Subversion), Sequel Pro (db management)

Sorry about that - very late here in the UK.

 

If the db name is wrong you'll also get that message. For instance you can set up a database with a name like oscommerce, but the full db name might be something like yourdomain_com_-_oscommerce
