doktorwunder Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Hi, I've just installed osCommerce on my website and... well, it works and everything but first of all, I don't want to use the spanish and german options... Can I remove them? And also... (I'm affraid you'll tell me that it's not possible) I would need a japanese option instead... but I can't do that, can I? Thanks for your help! Dr.Wunder Always need help :(
♥Vger Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 In your osC admin panel just go to Localization --> Languages and hit 'Delete' for the languages you don't want installed. There should be a Japanese language pack in Contributions. Vger

Thanks for your help! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes you can, goto Administration Panel > Localization > Languages and delete the languages you don't want simply when you open lets say Spanish just edit/change the info from the Spanish to Name: Japanese Code: JPN Image: icon.gif (Leave this as is once you have put a Japanese flag in your Japanese language file it will show as that) Directory: Japanese Sort Order: 2 And press ?Update?. This is where the work comes in firstly you can search osC to see if there are Japanese language files, (I done a quick search but didn't find any contributions) so now to the hard work you will need to translate all the language files in catalog/includes/languages and all those in catalog/admin/includes/languages Tip: Only translate the text that is visible to the site visitor and remember to add a Japanese Flag saved as icon.gif in your catalog\includes\languages\english\images Look at, lets say the Spanish file to familiarise yourself with what needs changing in translation. Once you have successfully translated all the language files you then just need to upload via your ftp program to your respective language directories (2 locations as above) Then it would be nice if you could offer them to osC as a Japanese Language Contribution. If you don?t have an ftp program here?s a great FREE one that I use: http://www.coreftp.com/ Never use osC control panel to Edit files it has a bug and will corrupt your site creating errors. Good Luck you?ll soon see osC is a great eCommerce module and very versatile. Kind Regards, Michelle
