just to elaborate - i am running WINDOWS XP - have static iP ,running apache and oscommerce - system runs pretty well:

don't have an email server installed - like to use my ISP's email server - use SMTP: xxx.bellsouth.net, however i don't see anywhere to set login ID and PWD - as i do for my email account within outlook.

i check my email client - mozilla thunderbird - it also sends out out port 25, it should work.. but again - don't see how to setup user id and pwd for my email account.

aarggh..

okay, changed the php.ini file from localhost to my ISP -> mail.bellsouth.net vs localhost (i confirm this works because my email client uses).

i still get this error

Warning: mail(): Failed to connect to mailserver at "localhost" port 25, verify your "SMTP" and "smtp_port" setting in php.ini or use ini_set() in c:\program files\apache group\apache\htdocs\catalog\includes\classes\email.php on line 500

I changed the php.ini file from localhost to mail.bellsouth.net but it still says LOCALHOST?? any ideas where its getting this from?

i checked email.php - could not find.
