Buy Now Procedure Failure

What can worse than this - a customer cannot complete a purchase!

Having used Oscommerce without modification to the basic setup and without a problem for nearly a year, we now have encountered a serious problem - the customer CANNOT order any item. This comes at a very important time for us, we have increased of advertising to 24 hours a day of radio promotion, hence anyone not being able to complete an order is far from good.

Can anyone HELP!.

This is what happens:-

Enter the store and click to "log yourself in" takes you to "sign in", after entering name and password, the following is displayed:-

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/premiers/public_html/fresh/includes/languages/english.php:336) in /home/premiers/public_html/fresh/includes/functions/general.php on line 29

The above also occurs if you go through the process of selecting a product and then choose "Buy Now".

It is very annoying!

The program has not been altered since installation in 2004 (maybe a bit basic but the layout is informative and functional if not glamourous). The file indicated to be at fault has never been accessed (except viewed today after the error occurred).

I have checked the details for the payment module but the error would appear to be before that point in a transaction.

PLEASE can anyone help with this error. :unsure:

Try taking the blank lines out of the bottom of includes/languages/english.php

Thanks for the reply, I am not very sure about "touching" existing script but will follow your suggestion, but which are the blank lines you suggest. here is the bottom end of this file:-

define('TEXT_CCVAL_ERROR_INVALID_DATE', 'The expiry date entered for the credit card is invalid.Please check the date and try again.');

define('TEXT_CCVAL_ERROR_INVALID_NUMBER', 'The credit card number entered is invalid.Please check the number and try again.');

define('TEXT_CCVAL_ERROR_UNKNOWN_CARD', 'The first four digits of the number entered are: %sIf that number is correct, we do not accept that type of credit card.If it is wrong, please try again.');

At the bottom of the page after the ?> symbol, delete any empty lines that may be underneath it... your error is making reference to line 336 and your page shouldn't go that far.

:D Many, Many thanks to you Jemlin1, it is amazing how what appears to be nothing causes such a failure. There appeared to be just 2 character spaces after the ?>.

I have run the system right through to complete a purchase and it is OK.

Now, I have to sort out the the shared border header of the front page and all will be fine.

Have a nice day and thanks.

Tony
