Hi Guys

i recently bought a pre-setup oscomerce site on ebay with a months hosting to test it out see if it what i needed

anyway i have now invested in some proper hosting from webfusion and require the oscommerce site transfering over i persume its a mater of installing a fresh shop on the new server and doing a backup of the database from the old and reuploading it into the new one?

thing is i didnt setup the first oscommerce site and i am having problems installing a new one on the new hosting.

reading the instructions it says i need to upload the /catalog/admin directories to my server and put them in the documents root (public_html, www, htdocs) not sure where this is?

i looked on my hosts instructions and it says everyhing needs to be uploaded /web/content/

i have tryed that and tryed putting it in the / directory but when i yourserver.com/install/ to setup nothing happens :(

anyone shed some light on what i am doing wrong

cheers in advance

Dave

All of your required osCommerce files to be uploaded are in the catalog folder.

admin is only one of the folders within it, you also have download, images, install and pub to upload, along with all the single files in the catalog directory.

If you are using a ftp application to upload, place all these files in your domain where you want them to go.....if you want a visitor to go directly to your cart when they visit your domain, put all the files in the catalog folder in your domain root directory, if you want to link to the cart from different pages in your domain, upload the catalog folder itself to your domain directory, and rename it to whatever you want the folder to be. i.e. "store,cart,shop,etc.".

once you have the files uploaded, direct your browser to wherever you put the catalog folder....install e.g.

http://yourdomain.com/install/

or if in a folder

http://yourdomain.com/the_folder_name/install/

then your install sequence will begin

all i seem to be getting when i do that is this page

IISPassword

The page cannot be displayed

There is a problem with the page youare trying to reach and it cannot be displayed. It is most likely that configuration files for this url are corrupted.

You say you just moved over to a new server....has your domain resolved yet?

If it hasn't, you might have to use an IP if your dedicated, or a quick access domain address while your domain settles in.

Also, since your using a windows server, make sure your IIS password protection settings are correct and not locking you out of your cart.
