Guest Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 Hi there, Just starting a new website for a customer and was wondering if people would take a look and see what they think. The site is located at : http://www.feagles.helitorque.com (Splash Page) http://www.feagles.helitorque.com/store (Main Store Page) This is just located here during the build phase and is replacing their original site at http://www.feaglesfreshfoods.co.uk Please let me know what you think of the design. I have been up really late at night getting all of this to work together. Also I know that this is a very often asked question but I thought I might pose it here anyway. If you do like the design (I hope!!) then how much would (or could) I charge for something like this? Thank you in advance for any help with this. Regards, Mark Bowen
hubcat Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Yeah, so... I made the mistake of going to visit this site and being VEGAN, it grossed me out too much to clink on any of the links. :'( But the home page looked nice. Try getting rid of that "Welcome guest" message, it always turns me off. Adrienne
rommany Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Hello The overall look is great, but i agree with getting rid of the welcome Guest bit, you breadcrumbs links do not work eg: staff and a few others, i would change the introduction to home as i think home is what most people are use too. Also i tried to click on the the download our free catalogue bit again no link to click on. So a little work needed but other than that good job! Regards
Guest Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Hi there hubcat, Please accept a massive apology! Sorry I didn't even think when I was posting it about that. I will edit the post to reflect that. Actually having said that is there any way of editing a post in here?? As to the 'Welcome Guest' that will be going. None of the text has been finalised for the site as of yet so this will all be changed. The buttons at the top don't all work as of yet as I haven't made the pages for them to link to yet and the 'Download Our Free Catalogue' doesn't do anything yet as we are still designing that for them. Mainly I was just after feedback on the graphical design of the site. Hope everyone likes it?? Also what kind of price do people charge for osCommerce templates and I know it's a difficult question but what could I expect to charge for this template that I have created. Any more help on this would be greatly appreciated. hubcat once again I am very sorry about the page. Regards, Mark Bowen

Regards, Mark Bowen <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Maybe try basing it on an hourly rate, based on your experience: Basic Level - ?10 - very basic osc setup with simple template Medium Level - ?20 (basic integration, setup, additional coding for modules, etc etc) Very Good - ?30 (Custom developments, php coding) I charge between ?90 - ?200 for a site which take around 10-15 hours to complete. But im no professional, people can buy templates for $40 so you need to base it on whats reasonable..
hubcat Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Hi there hubcat, Please accept a massive apology! Sorry I didn't even think when I was posting it about that. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> LOL... No worries, it was meant more as a funny than anything else. :D You never know what to expect. Good luck on the site, Adrienne
Chance Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Spash pages are so 1987. Why would you add an extra layer between the users entry to your site and the products you want them to buy? My advice comes in two flavors- Pick the one that won't offend you. Hard and Cynical: How to Make a Horrible osCommerce Site Warm and Fuzzy: How to Make an Awesome osCommerce Site

Why would you add an extra layer between the users entry to your site and the products you want them to buy? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Splash pages also are bad news for your Search Engine Optimization. There's no text for them and you don't have alt tags either. Add alt tags to all your images. Your copyright says 2003. I agree get rid of the welcome guest text. Sorry I too am a vegetarian so I didn't look past page one.
