Hey Everybody,

I intsalled the paypal IPN module into my test store today and gave it a whirl. It seemed to work very well so intsalled it into my live store. Payments work well and I like that the orders are recorded before customers are sent to the payment processor. I wish all modules would do this.

However, I still have one issue that's tripping me up.

When I used to use just the simple paypal module, I enabled auto-return so the orders would be added to the store. Now I've setup paypal IPN and payments are made to the same account as my paypal module.

When customers pay with IPN, they are redirected back to the store (because of auto return), and the status of the order is updated, but not to the correct value.

I have as my pre-payment status 'Awaiting Payment', and as the post-payment status 'Pending'. After customers complete their transaction through paypal, they are re-directed and an update is added to the order. However, instead of updating the order to 'Pending', it's updated to 'Awaiting Payment'. In the status history 'Awaiting Payment' is shown twice, once for pre-payment, once for post-payment.

My question is how do I get the post-payment status working? I've tried changing the auto-return URL to be ipn.php (as it seems it should be), but then no update is recorded but the success message on the store is still displayed.

Does anybody have any thoughs on this?

On a side note, should I leave the original paypal module installed for people not paying with credit cards?

Thanks,

~Paul
