Error message in mail.php

When I try to email customers from the admin I see this error message:

 

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /****/****/****/****/****/catalog/admin/mail.php on line 175

 

Anybody able to help me see the problem.

 

Oh, and here's the line although I suspect it's not actually on this line:
