Hi, I'm new to osCommerce, so I'm having fun but a little trouble too. I downloaded the sample package and installed it on my server, but it was very slow, because they were using an old version of PHP, so I switched my hosting company. Then I researched all the hosts and thought I was doing the right thing by selecting a Windows platform, I chose efextra.

Problem is, after I upload the osCommerce files to the new website, I can't access them at all. Their support faqs are no help, they told me to download and install mySQL client, but I can't get that to work, I just want to access the files using the browser like I did before.

Should I give up, switch hosts again, pull my hair out or what? :'(

Thanks for your help.

What happens when you try to access them? do you get an error message or just a page cannot be found message? Are you just trying to access the index page or are you trying to access install?

If you are trying to access the index page have you reconfigured oscommerce for your new server or did you just copy directly from one server to the other?

I ftp'd the files to the host server. Now when I try to access them with IE, I get page cannot be found.

I'm trying to access catalog/install/

which should open index.php but doesn't. I know the file is there, because I can see it with wsftp.

Thanks for your help.

When you uploaded the files where they new unedited files or the same files you had on your other server? Where did you upload the files too. In windows I believe it should be inetpub/wwwroot/You Virtual Directory if this is a shared server or inetpub/wwwroot if this is a dedicated server. Are you trying to access these files via the machines IP address or via a domain you have registered that points to this new hosting account?

Have you tried typing in the full address, including the index.php portion? some host might not have index.php as a default file to load when entering a folder. If I am correct windows IIS server does not by default. If ths host supports php he should have added this but that doesnt garauntee he did.

Instead of loading the index.php load the install.php

Are you able to give me the address of the copy of the site you are trying to load. either through email or here.
