Want to Copy shop to Domain Root

Hi there,

 

I want to be able to Transfer my shop from /oscommerce directory to my Domain root directory. As i feel it would be picked up by search engines better and more people would tend to click on it.

 

I've already designed the shop, added all the products etc, but the shop isn't live.

 

I doubt it's just a simple copy and paste, therefore, which files would i need to modify so it works on the root?

 

I have already set a 'redirect' from the domain root to the shop, however, i've heard that search engines don't like this. And also, i don't like the fact that it shows the catalog directory on the web address bar while browsing the address. Would jusy like www.domain.com/index.php etc....

if you have shell (ssh) access, yes it is a simple move process, then you just edit the configure.php files setting the proper paths.

 

ask your host to move them for you, if you dont have ssh access, they can do the move in 30 seconds tops.

Thanks for your very helpful reply. I'm not sure if my host has ssh access, so i've emailed them to move the directory for me.

 

I'm really looking forward to showing you all my site when it's finally finished!

Sorry to butt in but thought it might be helpful to have the details in the same group of posts. I'm attempting to do the same, with 3 new sites but want to do it myself using ssh. Could you give me the code? Thank you
