Flegg Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Hi there, I wonder if someone could help me please, I've just setup a OSCommerce website (version MS2) and when a customer goes through the checkout when they come to the end the total is calculated correctly, a typical order on my site is each item is ?5.00 and postage is ?1.50 but when they complete the order and the PayPal page is loaded for them to pay the amount that paypal requests is ?5.15, not ?6.50 which is the total in OSCommerce. I have attemped to try adding 2 items in the basket which totals to ?10.00 and ?3.00 packaging, where as OSCommerce calculates the correct amount due of ?13.00 PayPal calculated it as ?10.00 for the items and ?0.50 for the postage which is a total of ?10.50 which doesn't make sense. Does anyone know of what could be causing this or what to do to fix it? sounds like an issue with the Postage module, or, paypal have changed their interface and OSCommerce can't relay the information correctly. hope someone can help! Thanks regards Dave

Flegg Posted August 10, 2005 Author Posted August 10, 2005 Hi all, I've just been experimenting and alltho I haven't fixed it, I've found a pattern, if there is 1 item in the basket, Paypal charges ?0.15 for P&P, if there's 2 items it charges ?0.50 for P&P (adds ?0.35 to the existing ?0.15) if there is 3 items it adds another ?0.15 same as the first item, if there is 4 it adds another ?0.35 totalling to ?1.00 P&P and so on, anyone know where this could be charging it from or getting the ?0.15 and ?0.35 amounts from? Thanks
Flegg Posted August 10, 2005 Author Posted August 10, 2005 Hi WiseWombat, I have tried changing the postage cost from 1.50 to 15.0 and alltho all the way through the checkout process it's saying postage is ?15.00 when I click confirm order and it transfers me to paypal to pay, it's still registering ?0.15 for postage, it doesn't matter what figure I put in for postage, PayPal will still only charge the values in the above post :/

Maybe your postage is calculated on item weight rather than price per item??. ( WARNING ) I think I know what Im talking about. BACK UP BACK UP BACK UP BACK UP

Flegg Posted August 10, 2005 Author Posted August 10, 2005 but shouldn't item weights only effect postage if you've told it to? from what I can see per item and flat rate postages doesn't have a weight item, so the item weight shouldn't effect the postage. Also, if that was the case, as more items were purchase, shouldn't the postage go up at a steady rate? as this is going up by ?0.15 then ?0.35 then back to ?0.15 again etc
