baesic2 Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 Is this a clicky thing or what I have ask and asked for help on serveral posts and no help has com in severals days. It appears no one can help or just won't. I feel maybe I have cross posted a couple weeks ago and I apologize for doing so, There are so many different topics and forums that seem to have the same topic in them and one would figure General support is where I start and then the contributions for that particular topic, i think this is where I am getting confused and cross posting. Sometimes people ask vaguely enough that no one who could answer knows what the hell they're talking about. Sometimes, people ask really amazingly stupid questions that no one wants to bother answering. Not having seen your posts, I have no idea what applies to you. ♥Vger Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 Okay - the reason you're not getting an answer to that post is that you're actually asking people to rewrite a sizeable portion of the shopping cart for you. It's not something that can be done in 5 minutes and would require a lot of work. Also, it's something you would like to have done, but it's not essential - your osCommerce site is not broken in any way. Vger

Vger <{POST_SNAPBACK}> To me it's broken when the shipping address is not passed into paypal where we handle our shipping now. It works in html format, it also passes the variables into paypal as well without problems. See we include shipping our prices and use paypal to handle the shipping. Actually working with paypal developers, they to say that the shipping address should be passed along with the variables. I am not a php programmer, but if someone could point me in the right direction as how the get these things passed to paypal I'll take the time to figure the rest out I may even ask more questions. I am sorry if this getting to be to much for people. I guess I am now getting discouraged with the program and I'll probably dump it, for the simple reason it can't handle the passing of information to paypal. To me what good is osCommerce if it can't do what is expected of it, and html format can. I am not being sarcastic I am trying to find out why this is not as easy as it appears it should be. I do really like the feel and looks of osCommerce and would love to get it functional the way I want it to. Thank You In Advance, For Your Assistance From A Newbie Point Of View... I have tried several without good results. No matter what I try I cannot get the shiiping information into the paypal information and this is currently how we handle our shipping. Thanks for the time you are taking with me now. For now I will be happy just getting the shipping info passed through to paypal, then i will work at variables passed through to paypal. Another question If I send the html format i currently use to pass this information would it help in anyway towards making a mod for this? I use scripts and forms to pass the info in pure html It is true I am not good at get across what I want to say here. Boy I need lots of help. wizardsandwars Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 That contribtuion works fine. It passes the customers shipping addres to paypal, and pre-populates the paypal 'create an account' form. It does not populate the customers shipping address if the customer elects to purchase through paypal without creating an account. Currently, paypal does not permit you to pass the shipping information to the shipping address form if the customer elects to purchase without using a paypal acocunt. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help.

I contribution at a time. LOL So that should still work correct? I installed it once again and the shipping information in paypal still does not show up. Wizard I can pass all that information through to paypal in html format. Also our customers at present don't need an account to make purchases either. On our html site we don't have account records. So it must work. I can send you the html file i use to do it in html format. Thank You In Advance, For Your Assistance From A Newbie Point Of View... wizardsandwars Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 I have not installed PWA as of yet . I contribution at a time. LOL I never said anything about the PWA contributrion for osC. Re-read my post. I was talking about the create account at paypal. I installed it once again and the shipping information in paypal still does not show up. By default, when you create a paypal account, the address you provide is by default, your shipping address. This contributions pre-populates the paypal account creation form, essentially passing the shipping address to paypal. The customer still has to complete the paypal account creation though, by clicking on the 'continue checkout' button. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. Thanks everyone I am out of here. I am discouraged with osCommerce, it's nice but it doesn't do for me what it must for you. Good Luck I was going donate a sizable sum to the project but it does me no good. I am going to try for the rest of this week to get the infornmation passed to paypal if not away I go. I feel failure at this time.. Thank You In Advance, For Your Assistance From A Newbie Point Of View... Iggy Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 I was going donate a sizable sum to the project but it does me no good. Perhaps this sizable sum would be better spent hiring a developer to make a paypal module to your taste which you could then release to the osC community? Maybe not. Good luck. Iggy Everything's funny but nothing's a joke...
Guest Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 There is also the chance that the PayPal site has some help. wizardsandwars Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Every paypal account ever created has a default shipping address. If somone makes a paypal purchase through your website, and through paypal, then there is a shipping address associated with it. I'm not sure what you're doing wrong, but I'm looking at a very long list of paypal payments from purchases from an osc store, and every single one of them has a shipping address. ZenCart does the exact same thing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. I'm not sure what you're doing wrong, but I'm looking at a very long list of paypal payments from purchases from an osc store, and every single one of them has a shipping address. I think there might be some confusion here. I've had a look at paypal IPN, and in my orders, paypal itself is not actually recording a shipping address. Maybe this is something that can be passed if needed - I don't need it, as I record the shipping address in OSC, so it's irrelevant whether paypal has a record of it or not. Looking at the IPN documentation, there is a "no_shipping" flag that can be passed, and if set to 0, the customer will be prompted to enter a shipping address. 1, they are not required to enter one, and 2 they must enter one. Still, I'm not wasting any more time on this, as the guy has obviously given up.

Can someone please clarify, does PayPal IPN Module automatcially prepopulate addresses, or do we have to change something in the code or admin area? Many thanks
