Guest Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 this has been asked numerous times. the problem with this, is osCommerce runs under Apache or IIS, mysql and php. In a nutshell, without all of those resident on the computer, no.
Iggy Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 You might be able to get away with a live distribution. Linux Live CD Iggy Everything's funny but nothing's a joke...
MarcoZorro Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 Actually you can run oscommerce from a cd. Its not something I would recommend for people not very familiar with linux however. I have sucessfully managed to get oscommerce running using both knoppix and lamppix

You can then burn the folder on your hard drive to CD in your CDRW drive. To start the program, navigate to the catalog folder on the CD, then double-click on the index.php page to open your store. I keep backups of my stores this way. Hope this helps.
timisnumber9 Posted August 8, 2005 Author Posted August 8, 2005 Hi, Thanks for all the responses. I will look at the recomendations from Marcozorro and Ziggy to see if i can get it to work. To MarcoZorro....which prog did you find the best to use for this job? As for just backing it all up onto a CD then opening it from te index page....i don't think that will work to actually view the store from the CD....but for a back up i am sure it will be fine. Cheers, Tim
