prs444 Posted August 7, 2005 Posted August 7, 2005 I came across another post about someone with the same problem as me and a moderator said, "The most common mistake people make when adding their own banner is to delete the default banner first. If you do that then you also delete the default banner group (468x50), and your banner won't then display." This is exactly what I did! I deleted the original banner from osc and now I can't get any new banners to display! How do I undo the damage??? Is there a way to put the original info back in? What file do I need to retore to fix it? Any help would be great! Thanks in advance! Paul

If you do that then you also delete the default banner group (468x50). All I had to do was enter the group as 468x50 and it worked fine!

Do you have any other suggestions? Kim
♥Vger Posted August 7, 2005 Posted August 7, 2005 Have you added the image for the banner to the catalog/images/banners folder? And are permissions on that folder set to 755 or 777? Vger
jackrabbit Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Have you added the image for the banner to the catalog/images/banners folder? And are permissions on that folder set to 755 or 777? Vger <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I want to have a banner that is dynamically created from another server (kinda like google adwords) but even though I have put the HTML code in the banner manager where it asks for HTML it is still not showing up. I'm not sure that I understand the earlier post about adding the 480x50 group. I had to make a new group to be able to enter the banner at all. Did I have to make a certain particularly named group to get this to show up?

The 468x50 banner group went away with it. All I did to fix this was to create a new banner and add the 468x50 banner group. You can add the banner group by using the block right between the words Banner Group, and Image in the Banner Manager when adding a new banner.
♥Vger Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 I want to have a banner that is dynamically created from another server (kinda like google adwords) Then you'll have to do some code editing, because osCommerce looks for banners in a specific folder. Vger
Cisco Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Then you'll have to do some code editing, because osCommerce looks for banners in a specific folder. Vger <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Where exactly will you have to edit the file?
Cisco Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 ok, I found it. I fnally read at the bottom of the page in the banner manager. If you use an image do not enter anything in the HTML Text box. You cannot use both.
siavash Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 I also can't get the banner appear at the bottom. i have followed the above tips but still can't get the banner to show. i'm using an HTML banner not an image. i had originally deleted the original OsCommerce banner. i have created the group that was deleted as a result of me deleting oscommerce banner as suggested above to 480x50 Problem still persists!!! Can anybody help? thanks a lot. Did you try? Did you fail? No matter! Try again. Fail again! But fail better!
