RidersUp
I had my website on a unix server. I bought an ssl certificate. My host (catalog.com) told me that in order to install the certificate I would need to move to a dedicated server. This new server is windows. Now when the site first moved I noticed right away that it was a couple days old. Some things that I had changed, text, links, and picture size were from 4 days prior. Also, initially I could not view my admin. Tech people from my host got my admin to display online but I have no files in my file manager and no backups. I also am getting an error when I go to install products that my image directory does not exist. Yet, when I use the file manager that my host provides I can see the files are all there and they are not empty. Also, when I use my ftp I can see that the files are there. I am getting really worried that my host has messed up my oscommerce! Has anyone had a similar experience? Others I have talked to said that the transition should have been seemless and unnoticable. Should I cut my losses and move to another host who is more oscommerce knowledgable? I have just spent a lot of money at my old host to move to a dedicated server and install the ssl. Also, they have been trying to install the ssl since Monday of last week. I was told it was a 1-2 day process. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! AlanR
I'd dump that host and dispute any charges they might make to your credit card. Tell them that's what you'll do. There's plenty of trouble free linux hosting available. Local: Mac OS X 10.5.8 - Apache 2.2/php 5.3.0/MySQL 5.4.10 • Web Servers: Linux Tools: BBEdit, Coda, Versions (Subversion), Sequel Pro (db management)
