Credit Class and Gift Voucher 5.14

I downloaded and got everything installed ok. The db works. The admin works. The catalog seems to work (no errors), but I have a couple questions:

 

1. Why can a customer send out gift vouchers? There's a link in the shopping cart box of the catalog that allows customers to do this? This seems bad for business. Is it easily disabled?

 

2. I set up a discount code in the admin, however, whenever I go through a checkout, I do not see a field to enter a discount code to redeem it. Can you help me understand how this works?
