Wendy James
You could install the sql file manually then run the install and select not to import the database. Maybe that would get you past the set up part? Wendy James Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep. nat2zxd
okay - i manually installed the osCommerce data - following the manual instructions. then i went back to the main install page - deselected "import catalog database". i now get to http://localhost/catalog/install/install.php?step=5 and it asks for DATABASE SERVER, i then input LOCALHOST and again it hangs - my question: if the mysql server is on the same machine as apache and oscommerce - do i just put in LOCALHOST? or something else? i don't have a static ip yet, just DHCP. Database Server: Hostame or IP-address of the database server The database server can be in the form of a hostname, such as db1.myserver.com, or as an IP-address, such as 192.168.0.1 You could install the sql file manually then run the install and select not to import the database. Maybe that would get you past the set up part? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Wendy James
I think that all depends on your webhost. I know on my local machine I just put in localhost and it works fine and on some sites I have helped with they have been able to use localhost but on my site online I have to put in the address I would use to get to the database otherwise it won't work.
