themainebaby
I installed OSCommerce, and so far all seems well, except I can't get the admin directory password protected. I've tried various things to correctly create the .htaccess file, and no luck. I have my .htacces file and my .htpasswd file, but I think I'm having trouble putting in the correct server path - and I don't know how to figure out the server path - I know it's not the URL, but I don't know how to figure it out. The site I'm working on doesn't use cpanel, which is normally how I would set it up, so...I'm sure it's simple...but any help is very appreciated. Thanks! Thanks! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi, Go to 'Tools' in your Admin - click Server Info. Now use the searchfunction (ctrl+f) and type in DOCUMENT_ROOT (its located under 'Environment'). There you'll find the path ;) Hope this helps, Kind Regards, Tom Even in this dark place, yes, I am afraid of my own shadow. For telnet > start > run > type in command or cmd > in the msdos window type in telnet. This will give you the sign in procedure, carry on from there. I'm assuming you are using windows. If not forget the above.

♥Vger
You could probably have saved yourself a lot of trouble by using the Password Protection or Directory Protection feature in your web hosting control panel - which writes those files for you. Vger <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi Where would I find the Password Protection or Directory Protection feature. I'm having problems with the formating of my Admin page and there are some buttons missing on the other Admin pages also (see further down on the screenshot). Click here for a screen shot I'm positive that it's some problem with my isp changing over to a more secure form of cgi server because the other cgi server that I have my osCommerce site on is working fine. I'd appreciate any help. It's doing my head in. Thank you

Vger <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, actually, I'm doing it for someone else, and their hosting doesn't have a control panel that allows that. My site uses cpanel, so it's really easy to set it up, unfortunately their's doesn't - which is why I had to do it this way. Thanks!
