Access to Customer table from another site

I have a website where I need to create a product similar to downloads whereby when a custome purchases the product (ie subscription to member area) he is given rights to that area for an indefinete amount of time.

 

The other area will be located in another domain but will be stored on the same server.

 

What do I need to write or are there contributions available that someone has writen already for me to get this to work.

 

Basically I need another login protected site similar to oscommerce shopping cart but it needs to be completely seperate and still use the login info from oscommerce.

 

I'm sure I'm not the only one who needs something like this but I haven't found anything searching through the forums.
