CrassOne
I built my site in the Catalog directory. Now I want it to be in the root, but I'm a little afraid to move it. I've heard horror stories. So I was thinking.....Is there an easy way to just edit the index.php file and put it in the root? Will there be any unanticipated consequences? Maybe I'm blowing this up out of proportion. If I move the whole site to the root, is it just a matter of moving the files and changing the 2 config.php files? Is everything else the same, including the database? Is there a step-by-step instruction in the forums (just to ease my mind)? I know I could use a re-direct, but I heard that adversely effects search engine rankings. Thanks for any and all help. You will at also have a snapshot backup of your store as a bonus! I hope this helps you Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post [/url] My Contributions

There is no need to alter the database or anything else? Thanks again.

All you need to do is to move your shop files back to the root of your domain and adjust both the admin/includes/configure.php and the (catalog)/includes/configure.php to reflect your new settings. Your database is not touched by this but of course it never hurts to backup.
