General questions about oscommerce

I am ok with basic html, but all this is new to me.

 

I am not good with asp and php will I still manage to use this shopping cart.

 

Also does it come with a standard database or do I have to create my own.

 

I know a bit of sql but I am not sure I could create the database from scratch myself.

 

Is there anything else I may need to know before I attempt to set this up

 

I would be very gratful if anyone could shed any light on these questions and enlighten me on anything else they think i will need to know re installation etc.

if u get the right host, with a cpanel, etc then you can create an osCommerce site from within Fantastico.

= Yes, lots of noobs manage to set it up, there is a bit of a learning curve though!

=You want to download something called xampp (think thats what it's called) that gives you apache server, php and mysql on your own PC. You can then develop your site before uploading it to your hosts server. To get an idea of what's involved, have a sift through knowledgebase http://www.oscommerce.info

fantastico is a scrip[t to install osc and other scripts on your server at a button press

 

as far as a local development server goes try this one - you will find the app under free stuff at the top - it has all you want to deploy osc on your local windows box
