test123456789
Hello Can someone give me an idea please, about what number of OsCommerce shops with low to average traffic I could run properly on a LAMP server (2.4ghz Celeron, 512mb). I would use a light-weight http server without logging etc. to safe ressources. Thanks test123456789

FalseDawn
"Low to average traffic" is meaningless. Number of hits/day offpeak, peak? MB/day transfer? Database Sizes? php accelerator? Store optimisations (caching, removing bloat, MySql tuning etc) and the actual throughput/latency of your internet connection will have a far greater effect than the versions of software you are using. I would think that with good optimising and a decent internet connection (colo?) you would be able to run way more than 5 stores without a problem. If you want a more accurate estimate, a lot more info is required. Do you really know what you are doing, anyway? You say you are going to run LAMP, which by definition, is Apache, then you say "lightweight HTTP server" and "without logging", whatever that is supposed to mean.
