I have a business bank and merchant account set up with Barclays, but what do I have to do to put the details to link my site to my merchant account? Is it in the payments section in admin?

You also need a payment gateway provider , like protex or epoq , the payment modules are available in the contribution section...........

After I install the authorizenet payment system what do I have to do next? Where do I put my merchant account details and how do I access my merchant payments?

As you have a merchant account with Barclays the natural choice would be Barclays ePDQ module, available in Contributions. Even though it runs on the same backend software as HSBC's e-Secure it does work markedly differently. The HSBC e-Secure system is harder to set up but works better, whereas Barclays ePDQ system is easier to setup but doesn't work as well as e-Secure.

Make sure that the server your website is on has Curl installed otherwise you won't be able to use ePDQ.

Finally, as you already have a merchant account with Barclays don't let them sting you for a one-off setup fee for ePDQ - they should waive it for a customer with an existing merchant account.

You will have to sign up with the payment gateway solution provider too if you want it to work.

Protx.co.uk has a payment osc module where the customer do not leave your site.

Others are..

velocitypay.co.uk

epdq.co.uk

As far as i know, authorize.net does only alowe US merchant account holders.

Verisign on the other hand might have a solution too.

If your site is on a shared ip address on a shared server (majority are) then you first need to get a dedicated ip address - and not all shared hosts allow this, so check that out.

Also check that you can then install the cert yourself from your web hosting control panel. Some hosts inssist that you buy via them and they do the install - which is usually an expensive process.

But if you have a dedicated ip and you can install yourself then I'd take a look at the Express SSL from Geotrust, available at ev1servers.net
