Extending text on Categories

Could someone tell me how to extend the text on the Category Text ..... seems to be set to around 15-20 ... im trying to add a description to the categories and run out of space

Is perhaps Category Descriptions what you want?

I had the same problem and solved it by going into the SQL database and changing the permitted length of the category description field. I now have mine set at 40 characters.

Obviously I don't know anything about your site, but purely from a general design viewpoint I would think it would usually be better to keep the category names relatively brief and add a contribution like the category descriptions contribution (which is great BTW). That way the category name could fit better in the category tree, but you could have a lengthy description of the category in its own page - much more than merely increasing the category name to 40 or 60 characters.

 

YMMV of course - again, I don't know anything about your store or its intended audience.
