pjbailey
Right, setting up a new web site with osCommerce. I want to be able to charge a 2.5% extra charge for people who pay by nochex, as I don't think its fair people who pay by other means have to pay it extra, plus it makes my prices cheaper. So does anyone know how to do this or edit that module. I'm also after modules for shipping, for standard, recorded, special and courier. Using weights so people select the method and it does cost etc. If anyone knows how to do this or help let me know as these are the only things I'm stuck on Peter
ozEworks
Well first I think that that is not a great idea. Why are people who don't use nochex paying more anyway? Are you charging credit cards fees to people? If so you are not really supposed to do that. In fact I am sure people like PayPal have that in their terms. It is an illusion that this will make your products cheaper. Online users are not so naive that they do not take shipping and other charges into consideration when comparing prices. Extra handling charges really annoy people. You only have to look at eBay to know that.
nicedeals
I use nochex, paypal and cheque option for payments and the prices shown on my website aleady include a % sucrahrge for online payments but I offer my customers a certain % discount if they deposit money direct into our company account or pay by cheque etc. saving us the card payment charges and we pass the savings directly ono our customers. May be you should try a similar approach where customers are benefited by not making online payments but also still having that option of purchasing something online if they so wish. One thing to keep in mind is that you dont want to loose out on that very important impulse buying factor either which could suffer if customers have to go to the bank or write out a cheque etc. just to make a purchase.
