Non-shipped Goods/Services

Some advice please...

 

Is it possible to setup osCommerce to sell products such as services

i.e. non-physical, non-shipped goods.? For example, a website selling

webhosting plans.

 

I downloaded osCommerce 2.2MS2 and could not see any field/flag or whatever that

would identify a product as a service rather than a physical product. Hence the

checkout process would always include shipping.

 

To summarise:

is the above possible in BASE osCommerce OR

is there a contribution available for this OR

do I need to make a modification?

 

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

In your osCommerce admin panel, under Configuration, set Download to 'true' and when adding the hosting packages as products in your Catalog don't enter anything in the Weight text box. Items will automatically NOT be charged shipping.

Were you able to acheive this? I am trying to set up a shop with both services(virtual) and products(virtual) but will not have downloads. I tried setting

download to 'true' but I still get an error from the UPS module gives an error.

Right now, you and I are in the exact same boat. If you figure any good solutions out let me know. I am going to try to get other shipping modules in that accept 0 for a weight.

 

If I cannot, I might do some custom codeing for the UPS module.
