hi, i've installed and trying to setup up site to my needs, can't find the regulations tab to input information on my shipping & returns terms, privacy notice, conditions of use. It says in the knowledge base to go to ADMIN > Configuration > regulations, i dont see a regulations tab in my admin under configuration. Need help figuring this out. Can anyone direct me to what i am doing wrong. Thanks, Amy

this will be coming out with ms3, the current way is to edit the language files for the specific files, ie /catalog/includes/languages/english/privacy.php

Go into admin panel/tools/define language/ then just select the file you want to change or modify and hey presto.

If you follow that advice it will be a case of 'Hey Presto - you've screwed your site up!'

You do NOT use the osCommerce File Manager to edit files. For the correct way to edit files follow the 'Parse Error??' link below my name.

I did not say use the file manager I said admin/tools/define language/ and then select the specific file which if you've got permission will open for editing. This is how I was told to do it in THE OS DOCUMENTATION and it has worked fine on all mine 'read your docs'

The documentation is wrong on this point, and you have been very lucky not to end up with parse errors by using the File Manager. You may not realise it but when you edit files from within osCommerce 'admin' you are using the File Manager.

Vger is absolutly correct.

You should neither use the osCommerce File Manager, nor your website admin panel file manager to edit files.

You need to ftp download the files to your desktop, edit them in a traditional text editor, and ftp upload them back to your website.

Alternativly, your can use telnet, or SSH and VI editor.

But if you are using the osC admin or your web admin file manager, you will eventually cause yourself grief.

NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit.

If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help.

When you open up the file in define language it even has markers telling you where to add your text

Now ...let me see ...who's more likely to be right about this? Someone with 4 posts, all in this one thread ....or someone with over 6,000 posts and knows what they're talking about?

Don't want to be rude - but this comes under the heading of "Teaching Grandmother how to suck eggs!"
