if you read thru the last few pages, most of the errors are dealing with the data.  try one line of data only.  post the data also.

Sorry Mibble, I musn't have made myself very clear? I'm not even able to generate the data file to download.

 

I've tried generating all of the files in the temp dir with the links in the EP admin but the page simply refreshes.... It doesn't generate any files to download.

 

Create Complete tab-delimited .txt file in temp dir

Create Model/Price/Qty tab-delimited .txt file in temp dir

Create Model/Category tab-delimited .txt file in temp dir

Create Froogle tab-delimited .txt file in temp dir

Create Model/Attributes tab-delimited .txt file in temp dir

I figure its the way the spreadsheet is being formatted on save because I can upload the sample file and I get all the confirmations that new products were added (or updated).

Once you have excel open (this must be done first!), then you click on open, then select the txt file, usually shows windows ansi on step 1, on step 2, select tab, and text qualifier of ", the data preview will show things below, column data format is general (same with dates). also NEVER use the $ while entering pricing. once the sheet is open, you can either auto format the sheet, hide columns you do not need to edit, format the other column widths manually, etc.

 

i use quattro pro when my sheets exceed excel limitations, it goes out over 18000 columns

I use OpenOffice. It does not ask what format to open the file in, it simply opens it as a txt file. The qualifier is showing as apostrophe instead of quotes. It also does not open it in typical spreadsheet format, but opens it in more of a wordpad format.

 

If you are not familiar with OpenOffice, it is a free d/l at downloads.com and you can open one of your files (make a back-up first LOL) to see what I am talking about. If yours looks fine, then I obviously have done something wrong in either the creation or the saving of the file.

 

I wish I had only a couple hundred products so I could easily just upload by hand.

i have open office installed, i need to figure out how to default the spreadsheet side to ppen the text files

Here's a weird one.

 

I successfully ran EP earlier today, updating web-resident database. Then when I tried to run the same file on my local (using XAMPP) database, it only updated the first row, and returned the following message.

As you see, all the other rows show only the v_products_model field, followed by a space and the letter S.

 

Any ideas?

No products_model field in record. This line was not imported

 

 

The uploaded file is the exact same one. The only difference is the successful process occurs on the online website. The "first row only" process occurs on my local (XAMPP) "site".

When you say "play with" the temp file location, I'm not sure what to do. My temp file locations for the online site is:

 

$tempdir = "temp/";

$tempdir2 = "temp/";

 

For the local site, I'm using:

 

$tempdir = "/catalog/temp/";

$tempdir2 = "/catalog/temp/";

 

I'll play around some more with the local settings . . .

Just wondering if there is an easy way to deal with quotes in the product description when I upload it with EP. EP seems to be taking them and turning them into HTML. I'm sure there's an easy answer for this. Thanks.

I can download the test file, but I can't re-upload it, let alone a file I created myself. I get the following error every time:

What am I missing?

I just discovered, that when using Easy Populate, my Date Added field get's blanked. This isn't a big deal, but it screws up the "What's New" section of my site. Has anyone dealt with this issue? Is it created by manipulating the file with Excel, or is it from EP?

double check your easypopulate.php file for any changes regarding the date in the code

It's definitely saving in Excel as a tab-delimited file. I tried a single line of the demo file and got the same error. Help!

The date exports just fine, it is in the export file. So, I think the issue is on the import side....

 

So here is the code which comes from the incoming side....

and when i added that column and also set it to Active

how come it wont set all of my products to Active? Anybody know how to fix this please? or know how to run a sql statement on the database to whatever is set to 0 for non-active to active?

 

After doing that I still have about 500 products that are inactive and nothing changed after putting Active in that column, i also even tried a 1.

 

Anybody please help?

Hi,

 

I have a problem with easy populate.

 

I installed and everything works nicely until a certain point.

I can download the file (tab delimited). I can upload it. And the uploading works.

 

The only problem happens when I try to add a subcategory or new product.

 

I have 3 category levels. (ie. level1 > level2 > level3 > 'products here')

 

Any new subcategory or product from a subcategory of level3 get inserted as a level1 category.

 

So instead of having:

level1

>level2

>>level3

.....old_existing_product

.....new_product

 

I have:

level3

.....new_product

level1

>level2

>>level3

.....old_existing_product

 

[Legend: >, >> subcategory; ..... product inside prev subcategory]

 

 

 

Can anyone tell me what is the problem. I cannot figure it out.

Problem solved. My administrator tells me it's a security script that's the culprit.
