Guest
I've got Easy Populate 2.76d-MS2 installed, and can download the txt file to edit. elcidd
Hello, I'd been working on getting easypopulate to handle product attribs, and managed to achieve something functional. I haven't tested the code extensively yet, but it should theoretically be capable of handling any number of product options, option values, and languages. This is still beta code, and I haven't put it up as a contribution yet. If anyone is interested in giving this a try (at their own risk!), you can download my easypopulate.php file, and a sample tab-limited file (from an 'out-of-the-box' osc product list), here. Please try this on a test osc setup, before you even think about using it in your "live" store. And in any case, BACKUP your database. This code was developed and tested with EP version '2.62-MS2' on oscommerce 2.2-MS2. Here's an overview of the system. Hope its not confusing as it looks, and makes some sense :). FIELD STRUCTURE ----------------------- 1. v_attribute_options_id_1 v_attribute_options_name_1_1 v_attribute_options_name_1_2 . . . v_attribute_values_id_1_1 v_attribute_values_price_1_1 v_attribute_values_name_1_1_1 v_attribute_values_name_1_1_2 . . . v_attribute_values_id_1_2 v_attribute_values_price_1_2 v_attribute_values_name_1_2_1 v_attribute_values_name_1_2_2 . . . . . . 2. v_attribute_options_id_2 v_attribute_options_name_2_1 v_attribute_options_name_2_2 . . . v_attribute_values_id_2_1 v_attribute_values_price_2_1 v_attribute_values_name_2_1_1 v_attribute_values_name_2_1_2 . . . v_attribute_values_id_2_2 v_attribute_values_price_2_2 v_attribute_values_name_2_2_1 v_attribute_values_name_2_2_2 . . . . . . . . . where, 1. v_attribute_options_id_x x = a count, beginning from 1, and incrementing by 1 This column contains the options ID (each option ID must be unique). 2. v_attribute_options_name_x_y x = count (same as above) y = count and language id . This means, language id must correspond to the count, begin on 1, and increment by 1. For example, correct language id structures include, English (ID = 1), German (ID = 2) and Spanish (ID = 3) English (ID = 1) and French (ID = 2) and the system most likely won't work with the following language id structures, English (ID = 2) and German (ID = 3) French (ID = 2) So basically, if you're using 3 languages (say, English, German and French) make sure their language ids begin with 1, and increment by 1, without jumping values. This column contains the option name (in each language). 3. v_attribute_values_id_x_y x = corresponding option count y = option values count, beginning from 1, and incrementing by 1 This column contains the option value ID (each option value ID must be unique). 4. v_attribute_values_price_x_y x = corresponding option count y = option values count This column contains the "signed" price. If non-empty, attribute value is added to the product. 5. v_attribute_values_name_x_y_z x = corresponding option count y = corresponding option values count z = count and language id . This means, language id must correspond to the count, begin on 1, and increment by 1 (please see description for v_attribute_options_name_x_y). HOW IT WORKS -------------------- Basically, if the field "v_attribute_values_price_x_y" is not empty for a product row, the corresponding attribute is added to that product. Example non-empty values include, 0 (zero) = just the attribute is added (there's no special price) 11.50 = attribute is added, with price value 11.50, and price prefix '+' -9.30 = attribute is added, with price value 9.30, and price prefix '-' You'll also be able to add product options/option values, modify option/option value names. VJ Hello I have installed the latest version of Easy Populate into my store. I already had EZ New Fields installed and I want to find out how I can integrate the retail price field into Easy Populate. I've downloaded Dave Case's instructions (here) on how I can integrate them, however, the code that dave refers to is not in the version of EP that I have. Can someone show me how to do this? Below is the pertinent data: 1) PHP Version: 4.4.7 (Zend: 1.3.0) Server Type & version Linux 2.6.16.33-20070131a-areca-filemon-3ware-e1000 2) Set EP_SHOW_EP_SETTINGS to true in the EP settings and then copy the settings that are displayed on the EP main page into your post. Settings EP vers: 2.76e Temp Dir: /homepages/21/d202393536/htdocs/wii/Backup/temp/ Temp Dir is Writable Magic Quotes is: off register_globals is: on Split files on: 300 records Model Num Size: 12 Price with tax: false Calc Precision: 2 Replace quotes: false Field seperator: comma Excel safe output: true Preserve tab/cr/lf: false Category depth: 7 Enable attributes: true SEF Froogle URLS: false More Pics: false Unknown Pics: false HTC: true SPPC: false Extra Fields: true 3) Copy of any error message you are receiving. No error messages, just not seeing the retail price field 4) Post a link to a sample of any upload file you are trying. I don't have a sample file 5) Place all information in your post. Done. I am running a moderately modified OSC 2.2 rc1 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Lionel

You must have missed an occurence of products_price somewhere (be careful with the $products_price and products_price - without the dollar sign) if you work with a search and replace tool) Edited October 2, 2007 by pixclinic

I turned off EP_EXCEL_SAFE_OUTPUT and EP_PRESERVE_TABS_CR_LF . I then saved the file as a tab delimited file and ftp'd it to the /temp folder. I imported it in with EP and everything uploaded fine, with no issues. I think one of the problems was the html language in my product descriptions that was throwing things off. Anyway, thanks for the help, I still can't believe I made that mistake... Cheers Lionel
ReBeL Tech
My question surrounds the tax/price option: I have the changed the code to read //**** Price includes tax? **** // Set the EP_PRICE_WITH_TAX to // false if you want the price that is exported to be the same value as stored in the database (no tax added). // true if you want the tax to be added to the export price and subtracted from the import price. define ('EP_PRICE_WITH_TAX', true); // default is false But after I import - the products are displayed with the price I stated (which includes tax) but if I go check on the product it has not selected Taxable Product. I.e. the gross and net price are the same. Any ideas??

johnpurser
I don't know what more explanation I can provide for this. I wrote an essay about how to make sure your temp directory is setup correctly at the top of the latest version(s) easypopulate.php file, and copied it to the docs. Hey Surfalot, Finally got that temp directory fixed, and double slashes taken care of. I download the file, edit it, add the model number, then try to import it. Here is a small example of what the output says: File uploaded. crazyweb
I am 1st time setting up easypopulate and I am stuck with this line: 4. Make sure that you have a directory called catalog/temp, and that it's permissions are set to allow writes to that directory (while you're in the catalog directory, execute "chmod 777 temp"). My catalog directory does not have a directory called temp. Does it mean I have to create one? And about the setting up permissions stuff in this toturial...I do not get it. Can you explain in other words for me? How do I set permission like above toturial in FTP? Quote Teaching is learning.

guido76
Hi, I've installed the contribution and I can say that it seems to be working. Actually i can download a csv file that is ''and comma separated. To work in excel i choose the entire area, and then go to text in column function and convert in a normal excel file so that i can for example add products. When i try to update that file, everything is working, i mean I see that the file is uploaded and inserted in the db but I don't find any changed in the web site. I mean probably cause i have to convert it back to 'text','text1','text2' format but i don't know how to convert it Do you think that this could be the reason on the "unseen changes" on the web site? Teamjr
Hello I am using 2.76F and all is working fine, and excellent for bulk uploading. I am asking this question here, just because everyone seems to be very knowledgeable here. I have categories with the same product items, and too many to do a link through admin panel. Right now, say I have a product in three categories, and I do a search for that item, I will get three listings in the search output. I would like to have the products in three categories, but only have one output listing in a search? Thanks JR
shelby72
I found the solution to my problems with the following errors I was having with easy populate and the global registers off contribution: Notice: Undefined index: dltype in /var/www/vhosts/cootersautomanuals.com/httpdocs/catalog/admin/easypopulate.php on line 29 Notice: Undefined index: download in /var/www/vhosts/cootersautomanuals.com/httpdocs/catalog/admin/easypopulate.php on line 30 Warning: session_start(): Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at /var/www/vhosts/cootersautomanuals.com/httpdocs/catalog/admin/easypopulate.php:29) in /var/www/vhosts/cootersautomanuals.com/httpdocs/catalog/admin/includes/functions/sessions.php on line 68 I put the following into my easy populate: if(!isset($_REQUEST['dltype'])) $_REQUEST['dltype']=''; if(!isset($_REQUEST['download'])) $_REQUEST['download']=''; like this: // fix by jb 20040815 set the strings to http post/request, since they don't seem to work on the new server, with register //globals=off... if(!isset($_REQUEST['dltype'])) $_REQUEST['dltype']=''; $dltype=$_REQUEST['dltype']; if(!isset($_REQUEST['download'])) $_REQUEST['download']=''; $download=$_REQUEST['download']; global $HTTP_POST_FILES; foreach( $HTTP_POST_FILES as $varname => $fileinfo ){ $GLOBALS[$varname] = $fileinfo["tmp_name"]; $GLOBALS[$varname.'_name'] = $fileinfo["name"]; } // end fix jb While searching google, I had found someone with similar errors, but not with easy populate and just applied it to my easy populate problem so I have no idea what I am doing, but it worked. All of my error messages are gone now and easy populate is working fine now. Maybe this will help others with the same problem. Maybe someone could also explain to me what the above means. gaspower
Hello, I am using 2.76f and no problems, but was wondering if it is possible to have Easy Populate work with linking products? I have one products that needs to go into five categories? Thanks JR
gaspower
Hello, I am using version 2.76f and ran into my first problem, and not at all with Easy Populate, but the way I have the site setup. I will have one item that maybe in three categories. When I import with EP for category one, product (A) is uploaded and shows fine. I import with EP category two, and product (A) is also contained, but when finished importing, it over writes product (A) and no longer shows in category one, only category two. I know OSC has a link feature, but there are just too many parts that will be linked. Can EP be used to import without over writting product in another category? Thanks JR
sargenle
I need to install Easy Populate. I have no need for attributes. I have Oscommerce 2.2 MS2 last version update before RC1. What is the last version of EP that I can use that does not contain attributes that I can use. Leon

woutertarifa
Hello, I installed the ep contribution. I have tried to download an csv file and upload it again and this works fine. However as soon as I edit the csv file and try to upload it again I get the following error message: No products_model field in record. This line was not imported: | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | I guess it has got do do with the way I save the file. I have tried in different ways. Excel however always gives me the message: "xxx.csv can have caracteristics that are not compatible with csv. Do you want to save" (or someting alike, my excel is in spanish).
