danielwetzler
Problem with Easy Populate : Hi folks, I installed Easy populate but if I click on the Link in my admin-area I get the following error : Access Denied No Right Permission Access Please contact your Web Administrator to request more access or if you found any problem. I assumed that it was due to a access right problem in my filesystem but even if I set all my directories of my oscommerce-shop to 777 I get the same error. Since I don't know where I can get more information about that error (e.g. logfiles) I don't know what to do to solve this problem. Any help is appreciated ;-) Best regards, Daniel Wetzler
Guest
you need to have your temp directory set at 777, reset your osC directories to their default per documentation.
surfalot
Access Denied No Right Permission Access Please contact your Web Administrator to request more access or if you found any problem. in addition to Mibble's comment I would say that if you are using v2.76d, there is a setting: $show_ep_settings = false; set that to true and you will see the complete path this contribution is trying to use displayed on the EP mainpage. Make sure your setting for the path near the top of EP does not produce a double slash and ask your host if the path is correct to your hosting storage and that it has the 777 write permissions. imbarney
I installed EP and was able to fix all of the errors that were coming up by checking out the forum (thanks). I'm stumped with the message that I'm getting now. I think it's trying to import the info, but it's not showing up. I'm doing a test of 10 products for my pet supply store. I'm using a mac and running on an OSX server. I am reading the guide and it gives a special notice to mac users to enter in 'unix' at the end of the line. I know we need EOREOR at the end, but where would the unix go if I have to insert in. I have listed the message below (and I do have a product model in the file as otherwise stated at the end): File uploaded. magicspon
1) EP is not able to delete multiple products. The best way to do this, if you have 8000 products with no description/prices and want to start from scratch is to use the admin backup/restore function (did you backup first ? ;-) If not, another solution consists in going in the Myphpadmin control panel on your hosting service and empty the table products and products descriptions, (the "empty" tab at the top of the table display) 2) no need to create categories in admin, if you create your categories and subcategories in easypopulate, they are created on the fly when the file is imported. Just be careful that, if you already have some categories set up and want to retreive your products in them, that the names in the EP file match exactly what you already have on the site. Hi, Sorry little bit lost here. 1. What does on the fly mean? (probably a stupid question!!!) 2. Once all of the files are uploaded, am i right in saying that you can't access the products to alter them at all from the admin section? sonixtwo
I am trying to get Product Extra Fields to work with Easy Populate. This issue seems to have been covered in older versions, but finding the info on this thread isn't easy. I am using Easy Populate 2.76d-MS2 (with attributes) from surfalot. I added the code provided by jobonline from here and it does download some information. I found that I just have to manually enter 'www.website.com/catalog/admin/easypopulate.php?download=stream&dltype=extra_field' in the address bar. The problem with the file this creates is there is no Model, just the products_id and it gives product_extra_fields_id instead of the name of the extra field. What I would like is to add a checkbox in the create-on-the-fly box to add the correct fields to the file. here is the box I am referring to: Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. It seems that there are many others looking for this too. Thanks

I think there is something getting added in this process. It seems I have to go back and check the data coming from filemaker to make sure it's clean in there before I export. Thanks for everyone for taking a peek at my problem. Shawn
surfalot
1. What does on the fly mean? (probably a stupid question!!!) I think this from the upload description describes it best.... Added on-the-fly downloads. Along with the Custom File Builder this helps those with extremely large databases to actively stream the export and avoid time-outs. All other types of export and temp dir file generators in this contribution builds the entire download in server memory before sending to the export location. On-the-fly downloads output the file as it is created saving server memory. 8000 products = over 50 meg file. As in previous versions, this still pulls the entire product catalog in one SQL query for a complete download. Maybe look for a more conservative approach to this in the future. 2. Once all of the files are uploaded, am i right in saying that you can't access the products to alter them at all from the admin section? not true. the import should create full products editable from the admin. surfalot
I've trying trying to find if in this contrib, we can organize the attributes.. can I just reorder things in the database? Or will that not work? Sorry if this has been answered before.. :( Others may disagree, but I think this contrib was designed to move product sets from shop to shop. Many try to manage small product databases by exporting, editing in text or excel, the re-importing. Attributes can be a real mess trying to edit them after an export (not recommended). Exporting attributes from a shop with liberal use of attributes can create very large and confusing files.
Guest
1. What does on the fly mean? (probably a stupid question!!!) by "on the fly" I meant: "No need to create categories and subcategories in your admin section, Easy populate creates them for your alomg with your products when you define them in the text file." That's it. Nothing to do with timeouts or temp files as mentionned by surfalot
andytc
I used "download on the fly" to try and update some product names , i chose only to build the file with the product names. After i edited the names and uploaded the edited file, it deleted all my product descriptions ? I had to restore them from a DB back-up . Is it supposed to do this ? I though i could update certain fields on a product and leave the rest as is The model numbers remained the same in the file i downloaded , i never edited them , just the product name. The file had the correct ending tag on every line. Is this human error on my part or is something wrong ?
marciak
I have installed EP vers. 2.76d. I have errors turned on. I can download my txt file. I added one product to see how it would work. I uploaded according to directions. Upload seems to have gone fine. Got this at top: File uploaded. Temporary filename: /var/tmp/php0c54XC User filename: EP2007Jan10-0707-2.txt Size: 118686 ...then the file with the new product at the end. This at the bottom: No products_model field in record. This line was not imported ...but I know that's ok. Where is my product? It is not in the catalog nor, I imagine, the database. Is there another step I missed somewhere? The file is in the osc/temp file. Help! Marcia

marciak
Well, I believe the file did upload but it sorta messed up my products. It doubled up on a lot of them and put some in the wrong category. I rechecked the downloaded Excel file to correct any mistakes because the download has some things wrong...categories, mostly. When uploaded I got the double entries only in some of the categories. Any idea what is going wrong??? Marcia
