muuseec
Help! :'( I?m (still) trying to install osCommerce from scratch using CuteFTP on a webhotell running Windows2000. The webhotell claims to have set the fileproperties according to instructions, still the icons/graphics in osCommerce go missing on the very first install screen. Question: What is most likely: 1) The fileproperties are still not right 2) There is something else afoot When I check the files out with CuteFTP it looks like the properties are wrong, but since chmod doesn?t work on W2k I am not sure if the returned values are correct. Does anyone know what?s up? Would be MOST grateful for help. Information overload!
♥Vger
Your folders (not the files in them) must have properties set to 755, or if that doesn't work 777 (full permissions). As you are on a Windows server and can't use chmod you will need to use the web hosting control panel's File Manager to set the permissions. If you don't have a control panel that has a File Manager that allows you to set permissions then you really need to host elsewhere - because otherwise you'll be totally reliant upon your host to do all of your permission setting for you. muuseec
I just got really tired of the situation and I am switching right away to a host that allows me to set the fileproperties on my own. Hope to be on track with the new host asap. Thanks! :) Information overload!
♥Vger
Do yourself a double favour and choose a host that uses Apache servers. There's no dount that osCommerc works on both Windows and Apache - but works better and easier on Apache. Vger
