Guest
Dear All, I am currently in negotiations with a client about the build of a e-commerce website. (we are based in the UK). The client doesnt want to use a 3rd party payment service provider such as Worldpay - but instead wants to take credit card orders online, and manually process them himself later on. The visitor would enter their credit card details - he'd be notified of an order and would then go to a secure link/webpage where he could take the cards details and then process it himself. Is this possible to implement the above in OSCommerce? I'm not sure over what is needed. Would the payment/address page in oscommerce need to be on a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) - so its golden padlocked for customer peace of mind and security. Can anyone recommend a good value SSL provider? Does this SSL provider have to provide the hosting for the rest of the site as well? Or can we use our usual hosting company - not sure how they'd be compatible. Any clarity or info on the above would be most appreciated! Thanks, David. Guest
Also, if anyone can recommend a hosting company who supports https:// secure pages with SSL - that'd be brilliant. My current host has told me that they couldnt do anything with secure pages.....

Thier hosting packages are not bad and thay have every thing needed to run a osCommerce shop.... This is where my site is hosted Adam
Guest
If the standard credit card payment module was used - e.g. customer enters their credit card details on a secure page on the store owners webspace - in what form would the store owner recieve the credit card data? Would/does it literally come through in an email for them to then manually process the figures? This seems a bit unsecure - is there a contrib which deals with SSL's and the ordering process? My current host has told me that they couldnt do anything with secure pages..... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Try YCSHosting.com. It is what I use and I have full SSL support (not shared) and affordable prices. This is a shameless push on my own hosting company. Sorry. I do think I have some of the best services out there. I have been customizing services to fit each customer, so don't go by the packages currently offered. You will get a lot more space, bandwidth, and support. Later I will have another site up and running called SiteCreationOnline.com which will clarify and show off the many new services I offer. In the mean time, fill out the form for ordering at ycshosting.com (no credit information will be collected). The lower part of the form allows you to detail what you will want in your account.
