I tried the ?remove <?php echo TEXT_MAIN; ?> in the catalog/index.php file but it was nowhere to be found I tried to figure out what to do with the chmod 755 to unlock the oscommerce interface, but I have no idea where it goes or if I should rename the 2 files with that. I do not have ftp so I need to either change it from the server files of from the oscommerce interface. I went to /includes/languages/english/index.php and coulnt even change one letter without getting a Parse error I know I sound like an idiot and I probably am, but I have figured everything out till this point any ideas on how to explain this to me (an idiot) so I will understand it? To change the main page text you must download catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php or whichever language(s) you are using with an FTP program Edit the file on your computer, then reupload the file. Some webhosts have an edit file feature in the admin area but I have never done it that way so can not suggest to use it or tell you if it would work ok. Actually you need an FTP program to edit any page. The file manager that comes with osCommerce has known bugs and can totally mess up your site. eskiedog Posted July 27, 2005 Author Share Posted July 27, 2005 Thank you for the response. I wound up getting a editor called DzSoft PHP editor from download.com. Then I downloaded catalog/index.php and opened it into the php editor. I was able to find the elusive <?php echo TEXT_MAIN; ?> on line 307 and remove it. I them deleted the old catalog/index.php file on the server. Next, I uploaded the new index.php file to the catalog/index.php. All the unwanted text is now gone!.
