canadiangurl
Hi I bought an oscommerce template, and need help. How do I edit the text that is on the flash part of the template? For example it has SPECIALS and a generic text, how do I change it to my own? Thanks for your help
wizardsandwars
Becuase there is no 'standard' osC template, you should ask the prople you bought the template from. There is no possible way for us to know. However, I do know that if you use flash on your webstie, you'll need to edit the 'flash' section with the 'Macrmedia Flash' application. It's not anywhere in OSC. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help. wizardsandwars
For Macromedia Flash? Yeah, "Buy a book" isn't bad advice. or take a class. You have to understand that people get paid big $$ for knowoing how to create stuff in Flash. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. wizardsandwars
Well, you wont find anything about flash in any oscommerce book. Flash isn't a part of osCommerce. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. GraphicsGuy
canadiangurl, I'm afraid the news get's worse. :( The Macromedia Flash program will likely cost you more than the template did. (although they do have a free 30 day trial on the Macromedia site) If you do get Macromedia Flash, you will still need a good book on it. Unless they intended for you to be able to edit the file, it is entirely possible that the final flash file they provided you isn't editable. Your best bet may be to see what the peple you bought the template from would charge to edit it for you (presuming they are the creators of it and not just a reseller). Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database. Rule #2: Make sure there are no exceptions to Rule #1. Wendy James
Depending on how the flash came, there could be a text file for you to edit, to change the wording on it... that is called from the flash file itself. They should have some kind of instructions somewhere in the zip file you recieved when you got the template. If not, they stink and shouldn't be selling something you can not edit. Hate to say it but you should always ask these kinds of questions before you buy anything. More than likely it isn't editable. Is there even an fla file? Probably only a swf. Either way, good luck... but the people here will not be able to help you when it comes to editing templates purchased from a website. Wendy James Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.
Guest
Did you get the .fla with the template? If not I can create it for you, I have a program that makes the .fla from the .swf so either way I can make the changes for you. I know Flash inside out, if you need to know anything give me a shout. I wish I got paid big $$!!
