nokaNET
Hi, does anyone know where the admin user name and pasword are stored. I just uploaded my catalog folder to a new URL and I can't login to my admin control panel. I wanted to check my new folder and the old one to see if and why it was changed. I also installed a new MySql but that appears to be working fine. Thank you for any advise you might have.
wizardsandwars
osCommer doesn't have any security built into it by default. Normally securtiy is handled through your website cPanel, or whatever admin your web hosts uses. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help. nokaNET
Thank you. Can you think of any reason why I wouldn't be able to login to my /admin if the rest of the site is working? I just moved the entire folder from the old URL to the new one and I installed a new database. Thanks again for any advise you may have. ...and what's with the spooky picture in you're profile. :-) Looks like you should be a king of password recovery? :-)
wizardsandwars
If you copied you .htaccess and .htpasswords files over form your old site, then you can probalby get in with your ols site's usname and password ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. AlanR
If you copied you .htaccess and .htpasswords files over form your old site, then you can probalby get in with your ols site's usname and password <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If protection was set via the server control panel he won't have the .htpasswords file, it won't be living in that folder, it should be a couple directories levels above. He can just delete the .htaccess file and he should be ok. nokaNET
Thanks guys. I got it. I found a link that showed me how to create a new one: PassWord Recovery for osCommerce Thank you again and Aloha!
wizardsandwars
No, that's password recovery for a Linux server. That article has nothing to do with oscommerce whatsoever. You'll want to keep in mind that your cpanel, and your oscommerce admin are two completly different things. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. nokaNET
Okay, but when I created the .htpasswd file in /publichtml folder it worked instantly. I didn't have to replace the .htaccess file. Well now that I think about it, maybe the file didn't do anything and it just worked with the new passwords. Anyhow, thanks again for all your help with this.
