kitchenniche
Hi there, I have added a category called "Recipes" at my Site . I would like this category to be displayed without any prices, buy opporutnities, and images. Is there a way to do that? Many thanks Sandra HIM - Dark Light - Out on 26/09/
Guest
I know there's a way to remove all pricing and purchasing with a Contribution, but I don't think it works with just one category. Here's an idea: Make them downloadable products (like a text file) and make the download free. Also write the entire recipe into the description. Give your customers the choice. If they select download, you get the chance to turn them into a paying customer for one of your other products since they've created an account and have started a cart. Otherwise, they can just copy and paste for a free recipe!

Guest
Here's another one: Show pictures of those recipes using your products to hold or serve them in the picture. You can be as agressive or subtle as you want by mentioning the product in the recipe or even adding the X-sell Contribution (cross selling) to turn it into a sale. I like the subtle approach personally. I think surfers will see the products in the pictures of the recipes and get the idea. If it was me, I'd be turned off by a hard sell associated with a freebie. Some customers might even get confused aboutwhat they're buying/getting for free. Subtle is good!

I'm not quite sure what you mean with "Show pictures of those recipes using your products to hold or serve them in the picture." Do you mean when somebody clicks on the picture there should appear the picture and the recipe in the popup? Thanks a lot Sandra HIM - Dark Light - Out on 26/09/
Guest
Well, I went to your recipe section and saw there was no picture for the one you have in place. It would take some work, but what I mean is actually make the recipe, display it in one of your products and take a picture of it. Then its up to you to decide whether or not to mention the name of the product in the picture that is holding the food. You know, like a serving dish you sell holding a nachos recipe or one of your presses shown behind a steaming cup of chai tea that you have shown as a recipe. Then, they get the recipe and an idea that maybe they could/should use that product to make it. Again, I don't suggest a hard sell on the product. It might confuse some folks as to what they're getting for free. maybe just a brief mention like: Golden brown Mozzerella Nachos are shown here in our colorful Ceramic Server #34A. This, of course, assumes you hold stock and don't just drop ship everything. Either way, you'd be using up some of your products. Hey, you could have a recipe contest and give away your slightly used products. "We can't sell these since we used them for our recipe testing, but you can get a whole kitchen full of useful stuff if we pick your recipe for our catalog!" OK, lot's of ideas there. Take 'em as you like 'em! ;)
