Product Attributes and Stock

Example, I have a product with attibutes of either red or black.

 

I have a total of 5 products, 2 Red and 3 Black. Stock is listed as 5. Someone could come along and buy all 5 and indicate RED and I'm stuck with a customer service problem.

 

Is there a way to make product attributes recognize the stock available or will I have to setup 2 listings, one for each color, to keep the stock numbers straight?

There are several add-ons in the contribution section which will let you track attributes stock.

Any recommendations? I tried one called "Quantity for Product Attributes Mod" and it didn't quite work out.
