Paulie
Hello, One of my customers decided that they want to cancel their order. Their credit card has already been authorized and captured through AuthorizeNet. Where can I locate this customers credit card number so that I may issue them a refund? Thanks, Paul
tonyv
go to the https://secure.yoursite/store/admin click on orders find the persons name, click on edit and you will see cc #
wizardsandwars
No, you will not. The authorize.net payment module does not store CC numbers in your database. And it's a good thing too, that's a terrible security risk to take. You'll need to go through the authorize.net website to credit their account, and even then, you never actually get to see the credit card number. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help. In AuthorizeNet, when I click Virtual Terminal and select Refund a Credit Card, it asks me to enter the credit card number. The problem is that I do not know the customers credit card number. Is there a workaround that I am not aware of? Thanks, Paul
Guest
you should read thru the authorizenet web site help files, you can refund transactions there and it is explained how
wizardsandwars
Yes, but I still need to know the credit card number in order to issue the credit through AuthorizeNet. False. It's obvious that you don't understand how authorize.net works. You need to contact support at authorize.net, not support at osCommerce. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. donkarnag
as i stated, you do not need to know the cc #, read your agreement with authorizenet and the help files with authorizenet, all that is explained there <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Guys, I hate to bump this issue but I am trying to do the same thing wuth auth.net and this is what the help file says: "Refund a Credit Card ? Select this option to return funds to a credit card as a refund for a previously entered, settled transaction. Refunds require the valid gateway-assigned transaction ID of the original transaction, the credit card number and amount. Refunds..." And it goes on. From what I am hearing in this thread, you do not need the CC number, but the auth.net help files say that you do. For those of you that do know the answer, could you please share? Auth.net support is not all that helpful today. TIA
donkarnag
For anyone reading this thread, here is Authorize.net 's official word: To issue a refund using the Virtual Terminal, please do the following:- Click Virtual Terminal - Under Select Payment Method choose "Refund a Credit Card" - Provide customer information as requested on the Virtual Terminal screen. Do not enter X's for missing information. Information from the original charge (card number, ref. transaction id, etc), can be found by following the steps below: - Select Search and Download from the menu on the left of the screen - Select the desired dates to view from the drop down menu and/or search by credit card payment method or credit card number, customer first or last name or transaction ID number. - Click Search -Review the credit card information. You will need the transaction id (the blue link, a 9 digit number), the last 4 visible digits of the card number (enter them as 1234 in the credit card field) and the expiration date is not required. Your settled transaction list has the last 4 digits of the CC number. That and the transaction number is all you need for the refund.

According to authnet, Mozilla-based browsers screw up the javascript on the page and don't process the refund correctly - they require the exp date. Safari seems to do this too. Simple fix - use IE.
