derrian
I'm moving a client from Miva and looking for a good replacement shopping cart system. There are two main requirements that the client wants to keep. The customers needs to have the choice to checkout 'without' an account. And there needs to be a saved basket feature. Below is the discription of that, that I got from the miva module "Make it easy for your customers to come back again! Does your store sell consumable products that customers are likely to purchase more than once? Or perhaps your customers would like to save their shopping items and come back to finish their order later? Use our Save Baskets module to implement this feature! Your customers will be able to save one or more baskets with a nickname for future use--great for customer self-management of order history and re-orders. You can configure this module to allow any number of saved baskets--even unlimited--for each customer in your store. Baskets can last forever or they can expire after a given number of days. Your customers can log in, view their saved baskets, check a basket's contents, prices, and subtotal, and then restore the contents of the saved basket to their "live" Miva Merchant basket. Uses * Delayed Purchasing: Customers who wish to add items to their basket now, but who are not yet ready to place the order, will not lose their shopping cart when their session times out. Saving your customers time will encourage them to complete an order. * Reorders: Repeat customers who often purchase the same products, can save their basket the first time and easily place this past order over and over. Once a saved basket has been restored, they can add and remove individual products as needed. " Does OS Commerce have any type of feature like this, or is there a module out that will give me this feature? Thanks!
wizardsandwars
By default, your osC saves the customers basket, however, it uses a cookie, and a session. After the session is exopired, then the cart will be emptied. if the customer 'creates an account' then the cart stays populated forever. Also, 'without creating an account' is a subjective phrase. There is a module that does that, so to speak, but the checkout process is nearly identical as the standard checkout., they just done have to provide a password, they don't get an account creation email, and they can't log in later. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help. derrian
So it can save the one, but I'm guessing once you check that cart out then it is emptied. I need to be able to allow the customer to save their entire cart if they want to. They would have to make an account with this of course. But then they can come back 3 months later and open that saved cart back up and check it out. Or if they want then can checkout that same cart every month just by opening it back up. They can also have multiple saved carts at a time and be able to pull up any of them at any time. Was I clear in explaining this? Is there a module that in effect does this for OSC? Guest
http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...earch,login.php I've got a customer using this contribution - only thing to note is that if a client has already registered, and wants to later checkout w/o registering he'll have to use a different email address or you'll have to delete his customer info. Guest
Couldn't find a contribution that does what you need for storing carts - but I imagine it could be done.

Guest
They could use the wishlist contrib to keep a sort of "saved cart". You can move items from your wishlist to your cart - - don't remember if you can add them to your cart while still saving them in your wishlist. -jared
