Apparent Showcases site rejection

Pink

Recommended Posts

I have submitted my site several times to the Showcases section, but I have yet to see my site appear on the Showcases list.

The site is Shabda Retail Online.

I would appreciate hearing from anybody who has any ideas (or in fact any feedback at all) on the site.

Don't know why it hasn't appeared until now but I just took a quick peek and I do like the site ! Design and merchandise fit to my opinion so I just say: well done !

One small remark: there is a type error in your shipping & return page

If you do bot have one...

I guess you know which 3 letter word I mean ;)

Good luck with the site !

For one thing I don't see a Powered By osCommerce link anywhere which is a requirement I think

Well, my store, Cheshire Garden isn't there either, even though I submitted it and it does have the requisite "Powered by osCommerce" link. It's never been clear to me how that list is handled.

I noticed that too but as I have always understood it isn't neccessary to keep on the catalog side if you change the layout enough from the stock osC. I have not the faintest idea what the exact criteria are for this but I think the changes to this site are enough to leave the Powered by osCommerce out if one really doesn't want it to show.

My understanding is that if you want to be listed in Showcases, the "Powered by osCommerce" line is required. If you don't want to be listed, then you don't strictly need it, though some here will get testy if you remove it and then ask for help.

The issue about changing the design has to do with the copyright notice.

I submitted last Sept. or Oct. and was just listed the other day, there was a long delay in getting listings updated but the folks that are doing them now are getting them caught up. I understand there are several things they must do before listing them and they do this on there own time.

I'm sure in time that your sites will be listed, just give the folks time to do there thing.

Installed Contributions: CCGV, Close Popup, Dynamic Meta Tags, Easy Populate, Froogle Data Feeder, Google Position, Infobox Header Entire Row, Live Support for OSC, PayPal Seal with CC images, Report_m Sales, Shop by Price Revised, SQL Updater, Who's Online Enhancement, Footer, GNA EP Assistant and still going.

There are two different things.

My Store (here on the forums) where people post their website so they can get feedback. That site MUST have the osCommerce copyright information at the bottom of it. Sites are activated there as soon as a moderator come online as long as the copyright is there.

Live Shops (can get to it at the top of this page under showcases) There are a ton of sites there that have not yet been listed. I understand the frustration at this but the Team is working as often as they (we) can to get sites listed. There was a lull but I know that 125 pages worth of links have been added just since May. So we hope to get everyone who has submitted a website listed just as soon as we can.

Hope that clears it up a little bit.

Could have something to do with the backlog of 7000 shops to check

Wendy, why the requirement for the copyright notice? That seems to lead to every shop in Live Shops looking the same. Aren't people encouraged to adapt their own look, and if sufficiently different from the stock, remove the notiice? That's what it says in the source.

Clouds the issue further.

My Store Forum: Sites must carry the "Powered by osCommerce" text. Copyright is something else entirely.

I am unsure if there are any "Live Shop" requirements regards the "Powered by osCommerce" text. I would assume not as a few of my Stores are listed without that text.

Agreed, copyright should not be mixed with 'Powered By'.

It is also not logic to must have the 'Powered by osC' on shops shown through the forum and those in the Live area ?!

Like probably many I have just one shop which is the same on the forum as on the Live Shops area. I see no reason to make a difference regarding the 'Powered by osC' for those two areas.

You are right, the powered by is what must be there. My bad :) I just always put the two together in my head for some reason.

Harald told me a reason once, but I forget now... as to why the powered by must be there in the forum threads and not in the Live Shops. I *think* it had something to do with the fact that the posts made on the forum are asking for help and suggestions as to how to improve thier website and the Live Stores are just that... Live Stores and open to the public not "just" osCommerce forum visitors.
