Purchase accounting

I just wanted to ask about purchasing. How do you keep track of purchasing invoices? Is there a contrib for that or i would have to use separate software ?

 

Actually i have one more question about the following issue:

 

The guy i`m doing the store for has about 6000 items and each one of them has unique item code but only half of the items is distinct because the other half is the same but difference is in size. So instead of making one item and then letting the customer choose what size he wants, the guy wants me to import all the products like they are right now with all the unique item codes. I tryed to convince him to standard system but he says no still. What would be the was to maintain these item codes, so they are searchable. SHould i add one more field in products, use it as a model or .... ?
