Guest
Can somone please help me install osCommerce? I am trying to run it on vDeck, a web hosting company, and everything installs as the example page from osCommerce. I have followed the procedures carefully, but nothing seems to be working. Is there a problem with installing it on a hosting server? Or am I overlooking something else? Thanks.
♥Vger
What do you mean when you say "nothing seems to be working"? Some examples of what problems you are having would help. Vger

Vger <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am able to login to the admin site and add categories and such. However, I cannot change the banners for every page. I want it to have our logo, and I would like to customize the layout. I am able to do it for the index page, but if I test a category link, the page that i'm directed to is in the default oscommerce format with their logos. I know that each link in a category is a "path," but how do I make all paths have the same layout as the index page? Also, the same thing happens if I go to the account page, cart, etc.. How can I get all of them to mirror each other? The only thing it tells me is that "The text appearing here can be edited by going to '//catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php'." Thanks. ♥Vger
When you click on a category link on your homepage (index.php) the page it then shows you is still index.php - but with different content in the body of it. The header, which contains the logo, remains absolutely the same. So I just don't see how you can get different logos on the same page, using the same header. Try deleting all of your computers' Temporary Internet Files and all Offline Content, and set your browser to always look for a new version of pages you visit.
