module unit weight

hi - I've entered weights for all my products but when it comes to calculating the shipping cost using the table rate module the calculations are wrong.

Where do I check what weight unit OScommerce is using?

I can see it in screenshots but it's not anywhere visible in my admin.

This is really strange-

when I put a weight in for a new product e.g. 1.00

and choose 1:1 for shiping table (method weight) the price is quoted as zero (i.e. higher than 1.00). Only when I put 4:1 do I get a price as 1.

Weird.

check admin->configuration->shipping/packaging and look at the 'package tare weight' value - it is set to '3' as default which means that OSC adds 3 kg or (lbs) to your basket weight to account for packaging etc - set it to zero and your shipping should work!
