images directory does not exist: /catalog/images/

hi my site is running locally at http://localhost/oscommerce which works fine however in the admin when i click "catalog" i get the following error at the top of the page :

 

"images directory does not exist: /catalog/images/"

 

my config file is :

Change

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/catalog/');
