internetetc
Hi, I'm new to this osCommerce. I need to modify the catalog so that a product can show up in different categories... or any idea to solve this problem: I'm building a catalog for inkjet cartridges. Each cartridge can be used by many printers, and can replace several OEM cartridges. So I need to have at least the following categories: Printer manufacturer, Printer Model, OEM number and our own product number for customers already used to our code numbers. Any idea? Thanks, Rosa :'(
stevel
This feature is already in osCommerce. In the admin panel, Catalog, open the category with the product. Click on the product to select it. In the right column, select Copy To. You can now specify another category and whether to duplicate the product (another product just like this one) or to make it an alias (two entries for the same product.) I imagine, though, that it would be easier to administer this if you used the search feature or something like it to query from the description or title, rather than making several aliases for each product. There may be a contribution that helps here, but I don't know one offhand. internetetc
Thanks!!!!!, I've learned many things today. You're right, a search is the best way to handle all the options for each cartridge. The current search included in the osCommerce solution checks only on model or or product name. Is there an easy way to make it search the description too? Thanks again Rosa (w00t)
jderouen
Is there any way to change the default search so that it searches description as well as title? I know a user can go to Advanced Search and do that, but I'd like it to be automatic. Thanks! Joe
