Guest Posted July 15, 2005 Share Posted July 15, 2005 Due to the amount of products in my database, I was considering hosting the admin panel locally. Im not sure why it takes so long for the catalog page in the admin to load up, but its getting rediculous. Does anyone have any solutions or is the solution that I thought of viable? ♥Vger Posted July 15, 2005 Share Posted July 15, 2005 Even if you did do things your way the database would still be online, and it's pulling data from the database that would be slowing things down - and I don't think you realise how difficult it would be to allow connections between a local computer and a remote database. You'd need to have a dedicated ip address, and a dns pointing service set up, and get your hosting company to allow your dedicated ip address access through the server firewall. A non-starter.
