Newbie/Dummie help Please - changing index.php

I think I've got most stuff working but I cannot figure out how to change the main page so that all the error messages (particularly the one that says this site is a demo only) no longer display.

 

When I open up index.php in Dreamweaver, I only have boxes for forms.

 

Can someone please help a non-programmer to change the starting page?

Someone emailed me how to change and I wanted the whole message deleted so I inserted the '' and took out the message. Now I have an error.

 

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in /mnt/web_l/d48/s42/a000iqfu/www/mystore/nfoscomm/catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php on line 13

 

I have no clue what this means. Can someone please help me?

Hi,

It sounds like you haven't done any editing to your index.php page so to save the frustration of how to correct the error, here's a copy of the original osCommerce index.php page delete yours then copy and paste this one.

 

As far as editing is concerned make sure everytime you make changes you keep a backup copy just in case something goes wrong, you can always go back one step better than starting again Eh!

P.S. Make sure there are no empty spaces before the first<?php at the top of the page and after the last. ?> at the bottom.
