Guest
If Front Page Extensions are enabled and they are removed through CPanel, will this cause any problems? In "layman's terms", will it screw anything up by turning it off? From what I've read, I don't think it's good to have it enabled, but I don't want to screw up a site by disabling it, either. This wording has me worried and is why I ask: "Uninstalling the extensions from the main domain will uninstall the extensions from all subdomains and addon domains. Uninstalling will also remove all .htaccess files in your web root. You must have the extensions installed on the main domain before they can be installed on any subdomains or addon domains. Installing or uninstalling FrontPage Extensions will result in the loss of all .htaccess files in your web area. Any directories you have protected with WebProtect will become unprotected until you reprotect them." Since I don't know what Front Page Extensions is, I doubt I need it enabled, but someone set the site up for me, so I hate to "undo" their setting, either. Thanks. ♥Vger
You cannot uninstall FrontPage extensions yourself (at least not normally). You could delete the vti_ folders but that's not the same as uninstalling. After deleting the vti_ folders the front page extension system would just be screwed up. I can't speak for certain about cPanel, as I use Ensim Pro control panel, but with Ensim you'd get the hosting company to uninstall frontpage extensions on your domain, and afterrwards manually delete the folders beginning with vti_ via FTP. .htaccess files have code injected into them anyway by frontpage, so would be no great loss - but you would have to password protect your 'admin' folder all over again. Guest
CPanel has the option to uninstall Front Page extensions, so I'll give it a shot. This is a great forum. People are so willing to help others out. Thanks for info. I appreciate it.
♥Vger
Even if it does uninstall the extensions it may still not uninstall the vti_ folders associated with them. After uninstalling check your site via FTP to see if you need to delete them manually. Vger
