Russian language not readable...

Hello, i really have a difficulty.

It's very important for me to have my furniture website in russian. I even don't know if someone could help me...

That's what I did: I renamed german directory into russian (because i don't really need german), and when i translated the text into russian it appeared unreadable in the website. Usually I edit the code in the text editor. Whatever font i use - when i save the document, the editor performs formatting... It seems like there is nothing i could do.

I tried contributions but i cannot even read them because they are unreadable too, probably some russians made them. They seem to have some other encoding than mine.

I know nothing about language encodings.

I would really appreciate someone's help!

Time to do some reading then. I suggest the site of the W3C organization on that topic or Jukka Korpela's page with links to further reading. Pay particularly attention to the section on serving under Character sets, character encodings and escapes on that page of the W3C organization, because when you write in the correct character set (koi8-r [most widely used in Russia], windows-1251 or iso-8859-5 [rarely used]) but the server tells your browser to use another character encoding for display you will still see gibberish. On an Apache server you can dictate that with a .htaccess file.

 

You did enter the correct character encoding in your configure.php files? That won't help much though since the browser will "listen" to the server, not the encoding you put in your pages.
